Important Notice: U.S. Import Tariff Policy Update

Dear 42Lolita U.S. Customers,

On February 3, 2025, U.S. Customs announced changes to the tariff policy affecting goods imported from China (including Hong Kong), effective from February 4, 2025, 12:01 AM EST. Please check the policy details here on U.S. Customs and Border Protection site.

The key points of the update are:

  1. Elimination of the $800 Duty-Free Exemption: The exemption previously applied to items under $800 will no longer be in effect.
  2. Additional Tariffs: In addition to the basic tariff, goods will be subject to:
    • Section 301 Tariffs (specific to certain Chinese goods),
    • Section 201/232 Tariffs (for steel, aluminum, etc.),
    • A new 10% tariff on all goods originating from China and Hong Kong.

This adjustment means that from February 4, 2025, all shipments from China and Hong Kong will incur tariffs. While we have always stated that customers are responsible for tariffs as outlined in our Terms and Conditions and FAQ, we understand the sudden nature of this policy change, which has taken both us and our customers by surprise. To ease the burden, 42Lolita will share the tariff costs with our U.S. customers.

Our Response Measures:

  1. Shared Tariff Payment:

    • Under the present USA import Tarrif policy, the tax rate of our products varies from 20%-50%. For orders paid before February 5, 2025, but not yet shipped: We will only charge 20% of the applicable tariff, covering the remaining amount ourselves.
    • For new orders paid after February 5, 2025: We have set up a lower prepaid tariff rate that is much lower than the official tariff rate, which is based on each item's HS code, and this will be reflected at checkout. Since DHL packages are shipped under DTU, so customers will pay tax when delivery, and we will refund the tax in the order to you.
  2. Order Cancellation:

    • If your order has not yet shipped, we fully understand if you'd prefer to cancel due to the sudden tariff changes. You can cancel your order for a full refund, and we will bear the associated costs. To cancel your order, please contact us at support@42lolita.com, and we will process your refund within 24 hours on business days (slightly longer during weekends or holidays).
  3. Tariff Payment Methods:

    • Yanwen / Cainiao: These logistics companies will collect a 35% tariff, with 20% paid by the customer and 15% covered by 42Lolita (we will notify affected customers by email).
    • DHL / FedEx: For customers using DHL or FedEx, the tariff will not be prepaid. Customers will need to pay the tariff upon receipt of their package, but we will refund this amount at checkout.
    • China Post (Eyoubao, EMS, SAL, Chinese Air): We are currently waiting for clarification on how tariffs will be paid for China Post shipments. We will update affected customers once we receive further information.
  4. Shipping Delay:

    • Due to the new tariff policy and temporary disruptions with U.S. customs and USPS, shipments to the U.S. will be paused from February 4-9, 2025. We anticipate resuming shipments on February 10, 2025. Other international shipments will not be affected.

Tariff Calculation Example: For example, a $50 cotton dress (HS code: 6204.42.1000) with the following tariffs:

The total tariff rate would be 29.3% (11.8+7.5+10=29.3), resulting in a tariff of $14.65 for this item ($50 × 29.3%). Many of our other products will face similar tariff rates, even may exceeding 40%. To help with the burden, 42Lolita will cover a significant portion of the tariff. For paid orders, we will only charge 20% of the tariff amount. For new orders, the tariff rate set in the system will be significantly lower than the official tariff.

We understand that this sudden policy shift may cause confusion and concern, and we are doing everything we can to reduce the financial burden for our customers. Rest assured, your orders and payments are secure with us, and we will ensure all packages are shipped safely. If you need to cancel your order before shipment, we will process a full refund, and we will absorb any related losses.
