Size & Measurement Guide

Introduction:

At 42Lolita, we want to ensure that every piece you purchase fits you beautifully. To help you select the correct size, we’ve created this detailed guide on how to take your body measurements accurately. Please follow the instructions below and compare your measurements with our size charts for the best fit.

Important Sizing Tip:

  • We recommend measuring while standing in a natural posture, wearing lightweight clothing or undergarments.
  • Use a soft measuring tape.
  • Measure yourself in front of a mirror or with the help of a friend.
  • Always double-check your measurements to ensure accuracy.
  • For layered Lolita styles, consider leaving some extra room for petticoats and inner layers.
  • We recommend that the clothing measurements be approximately 2-3 cm (about 0.8-1.2 inches) larger than your actual body measurements. This allows for greater comfort and flexibility when wearing Lolita clothing, especially when layering with petticoats, blouses, or other accessories.
  • All of our size charts are available in both centimeters (cm) and inches (in). After taking your measurements, please be sure to check the size chart using the same unit you measured with to ensure the most accurate fit.

Measurement Guide:

  1. Upper Body Length
Measured from the prominent bone at the neck-shoulder junction down to the top of your hip bones (iliac crest) at the waist.
Tip: Stand straight and ensure the tape follows the natural curve of your back.

  2. Lower Body Length
Measured from your pelvis (top of the hip bone) down to your ankle.
Tip: Keep your legs straight when measuring.

  3. Sleeve Length
Measure from the edge of your shoulder (where your arm meets your shoulder) down to your wrist.
Tip: Slightly bend your arm for a natural sleeve length.

  4. Shoulder Width
Measured across your upper back, from the edge of one shoulder to the other, across the two knobbly shoulder points.
Tip: Stand relaxed with your arms hanging naturally.

  5. Upper Chest
Measure around your body, just above the bust, directly under your armpits.
Tip: Keep the tape horizontal and snug, but not tight.

  6. Full Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your bust.
Tip: Ensure the tape is level across your back and sits comfortably across your chest.

  7. Under Bust
Measure around your ribcage, just under your bust.
Tip: Keep the tape parallel to the floor.

  8. Waist (Narrowest Part)
Measure around the narrowest part of your waist, usually just above the belly button.
Tip: Breathe naturally and do not suck in your stomach.

  9. High Hip
Measure around your upper hips, approximately 3-4 inches below your waist.
Tip: Keep the tape level and comfortable.

  10. Hips (Fullest Part)
Measure around the widest part of your hips and buttocks.
Tip: Make sure the tape is level all the way around.

  11. Armpit / Shoulder Diameter
Measure around the top of your arm and under your armpit, forming a complete circle.
Tip: This helps determine sleeve fit, especially for blouses and dresses with fitted sleeves.

  12. Bicep (Widest Part)
Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm.
Tip: Keep your arm relaxed during measurement.

  13. Waist Circumference
    Measure around your natural waistline.
Tip: This is similar to "Waist" but can be used for garments that fit around the waist, like skirts.
